South Indian Sambar Recipe
Ingredients
- 100 g tur dal (split pigeon peas)
- Drumstick, cut into pieces
- Brinjal (eggplant), chopped
- Pumpkin, chopped
- Onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp thick tamarind juice
- Prayosha Meera Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, to taste
- 1 heaped tbsp Prayosha Meera Sambar Masala
- Salt to taste
Step by Step Guide
- Wash and soak 100 g tur dal for 30 minutes.
- Pressure cook the soaked dal with drumstick, brinjal, pumpkin, and onions until the dal is soft and the vegetables are tender.
- Add 2 tbsp thick tamarind juice, Prayosha Meera Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, and salt to taste. Mix well.
- Stir in 1 heaped tbsp Prayosha Meera Sambar Masala and bring the sambar to a gentle simmer for 5–7 minutes so the flavors blend well.
- Remove from heat and serve the hot Sambar with idli, dosa, vada, or steamed rice.
